After 32 years of compassionate service to the Duke University Health System, including the past 10 years as the Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) at Duke Cancer Institute, LeAnn Hinson, RN, MSN, has announced her retirement, effective October 31 (2021).
Previous to DCI, Hinson served DUHS as the CHRO for Clinical Laboratories and worked as a gynecologic oncology nurse. One of her favorite roles was serving as a Life Flight nurse and program manager.
“Being part of the Life Flight team and having the unique ability to fly into a situation and care for patients is something I’m most proud of,” said Hinson. “As CHRO, taking care of “my people” brought me joy.”
“LeAnn has certainly cared for the people of DCI with all her heart and compassion, including staff, patients, and their loved ones,” wrote Robin Famiglietti, PhD, MBA, FACHE, associate vice president, Oncology Services, DUHS, and associate dean and chief administrator, DCI, in an email to DCI staff and faculty announcing Hinson’s retirement. “We are deeply grateful for her decades of dedicated service and safe, compassionate care throughout her various roles within our health system and her presence will be deeply missed. We wish LeAnn a fond farewell and all the best wherever life’s journey takes her next.”
Famiglietti has announced that Jeff Chitester, BA, BS, MA, currently executive director of Talent Management for Duke Health Development and Alumni Affairs, will serve as DCI’s new CHRO, effective November 3, 2021.
