In 1989, I joined Cancer and Leukemia Group B and was introduced into the clinical trials world and a mighty force for good, Dr. Clara D. Bloomfield.
Clara, as we all called her, was a dynamo, full of energy, ideas—and a giant in her field. She said what she felt and never shied away from standing up for the data facts and what was right and fair to all.
Many thought she was scary, others hilarious, but everyone is reeling from the realization that this awesome, fearless, ferocious force of nature is suddenly gone, and we are left to keep up what she started and her continue her legacy, including excelling in science, searching undaunted for cures, and promoting women in leadership.
This is an excerpt of an article that was published in full in The Cancer Letter.
